Music and 'extreme' nostalgia hit the European PC Store today. Space Invaders Extreme has been pretty well received, from what we've heard, and now you can try it out for yourselves. We'll have a review of the full game up at some point in the near future. The first episode of Sony Europe's made-for-PSN TV Show Movement is also available to download for free. This is made up of 8 episodes, including four live performances from two Parisian bands. Here's the full release list:
America catches up with Europe today (we so rarely get to say that) as Medievil Resurrection becomes available on the PC Store and the PSN Store via PS3. As if to rub it in the faces of their European cousins, it's accompanied by an interview video and wallpaper. Both free, naturally. Here's the full release list:
Medievil Resurrection ($17) (also downloadable via PS3)
Just one new item added to the PC Store today. The original Pursuit Force for the PC is now available to download from both the PC Store and the PSN Store via PS3. Either way, you'll be paying £14.99 (or €19.99) for a classic title.
This comprises the entirety of today's PC Store update for Europe, so don't expect to see anything new going up later. As usual, the American update will be occuring later today, so stay tuned for that.
According to a NeoGAF posting, this month's Dengeki PlayStation reveals the very first PS1 games Square Enix will revive on the Japanese PSN. The titles will be available for 600 yen each, and will begin releasing in Japan today. There are twelve titles planned, starting with Xenogears. However, there are a number of other titles to be released today, such as Einhander, Astronoka, Rakugaki Showtime, Raystorm and Fighters Impact. While none of these titles feature the words "Final" or "Fantasy" in them, many are considered classics of the PS1 era. Titles like Xenogears can be pretty rare, so these re-releases are of great convenience to those that missed them at first. At only 600 yen each, this is an incredible bargain, especially when one considers the ability to play these downloadables on both the PS3 and on the go with the PSP.
Unfortunately, SCEA and Square Enix USA haven't announced any similar plans to release English language versions of these classics. We hope that they follow suit soon.
More Syphon Filter! But, thankfully, not justSyphon Filter. There's also the full game of Gurumin for the bargain price of $15. Pretty tasty, if you ask us. Sadly, there have been no updates to the European store today. Here's the full release list for America:
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure ($14.99) (also downloadable via PS3)
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (also downloadable via PS3)
We're starting to see a pattern with these PC updates recently. Almost all the content tends to have a common theme. This week the theme is Syphon Filter. Not a fan? Then you won't find much of interest in today's update. PS1 games are always nice to see, however. As for the nine free music tracks -- we find that very tasty. Here's the full release list:
For some reason, the prices of games on the US PLAYSTATION Store have fluctuated. Many games have actually increased in price, while The Con has been slashed in half. We're not exactly sure what's behind this seemingly-random adjustment in price, but we can't say we support it. Digital copies of games shouldn't be more expensive than buying it in retail. Let's hope this is a bad glitch.
Not a lot to see here today. SCEE has told us that, along with D2Comics' "interactive multimedia experience," The Cryptics, the store has also been updated with a trailer for Ape Quest as well as the game itself. To that, we ask "is it May 1st again?" We'll add it to the release list, to keep The Cryptics company. Plus, who knows -- maybe some of you forgot to pick up Ape Quest and need some gentle reminding that it exists. Here's the release list:
We hope you like SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2, because if not then you're going to be very disappointed with today's update. There's the game itself, a trailer, two adverts, four wallpapers and five music tracks. That's a lot of content for a single game. Here's the full release list:
SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2 ($15.99) (also downloadable via PS3)
Another pair of games hit the EU PC Store today, with very little else accompanying them. Killzone Liberation is certainly worth picking up, though whether you grab it from the Store or get it cheaper elsewhere, that's up to you. We'd like to see a bit more filler heading to the PC Store each week. Videos and themes always make the update seem that little bit more meatier. Here's the release list:
Want more games? Sony has provided. No filler this week, just two full games up for grabs. Both are great and worth a punt, however Medievil is available at Play.com for half the price. If it's convenience you're after, however, feel free to pay extra and get it downloaded directly to your PSP. Via your PC, that is. Here's the release list:
Four more PS1 classics are hitting the Japanese PSN. The most notable one of the lot is Hudson's Bomberman. What's good about this title is that you can pick it up from the Japanese store and you can still play it just fine without any knowledge of the Japanese language. Playing it on the PS3 shouldn't cause any problems but playing on the PSP means that multi-player won't be possible.
The other three games include Lord Monarch and Wizard's Harmony 2 which are both strategy RPGs. The last is Dig-a-Dig Pukka, a digging game. All titles are ¥600 ($5.73) each.
Do you like The Con? Have you heard of it? You will have done after reading this post, there's just no escaping it. Apart from the two Hot Shots demos and the super creepy Siren trailer, it's all about The Con. As well as the game itself, there are several videos available and even a wallpaper. Almost makes you want to buy it, doesn't it? Almost. Here's the full release list:
Today's store update is a little confusing, but mostly pleasing. Despite Go!Explore having no solid release date, DLC for the service is already appearing on the store. While frutstrating, it does tell us that buying the GPS add-on for the software will be very worthwhile. Especially if you travel a lot. We're waiting anxiously for the Japan map pack. Here's the full release list:
Playable content
Everybody's Golf 2 Beginner demo (free)
Everybody's Golf 2 Intermediate demo (free)
Ultimate Board Games demo (free)
Add-on content
Go!Explore Western Europe map pack (£14.99/€19.99)
Go!Explore UK & Ireland map pack (£14.99/€19.99)
Go!Explore Spain & Portugal map pack (£14.99/€19.99)
Theme lovers will enjoy today's American PC Store update as there are now three more to add to your collection. Not only that, but (perhaps more importantly) a demo for the recently-goldenSecret Agent Clank has been made available. While it probably won't tide you over until the game's release in June, it will give you a taste of this Summer's hottest PSP release. Here's the full release list:
